Scope of Responsibilities
Responsibilities includes activities related to both LAN and WAN disciplines. Participate in team rotational on call coverage and perform off hours work as needed.

LAN: Troubleshoot layer 2 and 3 connectivity issues related to user access switches, core switch functionality and issues related to the associated fiber and copper infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to IP addressing issues, Cisco LAN switch configuration, Cisco core switch configuration, failed/damaged copper infrastructure and interconnecting fiber uplinks. Perform IMAC activities including cable patching, equipment installation, configuration, and testing.

WAN: Troubleshoot connectivity issues related to frame relay, dedicated T1, and VPN remote links. This includes but not limited to router failures, router configurations, VPN appliance failures, VPN appliance configuration, carrier circuit issues, and applications performance issues.

Skills Requirements
This position requires a thorough working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol function, Ethernet topology, advance routing protocol (i.e. BGP, OSPF), and Cisco router and switch installation and configuration. Other skills include logical problem resolution approach and the ability to resolve communications problems to their root cause. In addition, protocol analysis skills with the Sniffer product are required for resolving network and application related problems and performance issues.

Also required are professional team interaction skills and thorough documentation skills, the ability to work closely with the clients customers through difficult problem resolution events without close supervision, is also required.

Experience Requirements
To adequately meet the expectations of this position, 3-5 years experience in supporting Cisco network is required in each of the disciplines, LAN, WAN and VPN. This experience must include work on complex multi-site networks in customer environments.
